Victoria Road Addition, Nanaimo, 2020

It was a pleasure to return to this home and work with its owners again. This turn of the century house was in need of some more space for the family, so with some help from our structural engineers, we were able to add on a new laundry/mudroom while we opened up their kitchen and living areas, including adding two bump-outs to the master bedroom, which created some new space to grow into.

Sean and his crew took on the challenging task of making our 900 square foot, 100-year-old house much more liveable and efficient, without losing its charm and character. Sean was very patient with our big ideas and a few last minute changes. The end result is a charming addition to our house that more than meets our expectations!

As the name would imply, Island Red Cedar knocks it out of the park with their exterior post and beam details. The structural brackets required for our additions are works of art! Sean works with some great tradesmen, and as a result, our kitchen cabinetry, new and newly refinished wood and tile floors look beautiful.

Everyone was respectful, happy to answer our frequent questions, and the site was always kept tidy. Many great ideas came from members of the crew! We would recommend Island Red Cedar for your major renovation job.
